Amber’s Gift Guide - Adults
Christmas is my favourite time of the year.
As a Mum of four, I like to feel organised going into the Christmas season. So that means I do my shopping in November.
As I’m an early bird, each year my friends would ask me what I had bought as inspo for their own Christmas shopping, so I began emailing around a list. Now I post that list on-line in my annual Gift Guides.
This Adults Gift Guide is in 3 parts - Gifts, Experiences & Wear I hope you find something that will delight you, your friends and your family. Whilst the spirit of Christmas is spending time with family and friends, it’s joyful to give a gift that makes someone smile.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours,
Amber xxxx
Note: I’ve linked to each item in the heading mostly (or where there’s an underline). For more Gift Guides, see my Gift List for Teens and my Gift List for Kids is coming soon.
New Hand Bag Bag
This heart bag from Zimmerman is on my Santa list.
I asked my friends for the bags on their wish lists because it’s intriguing to see what other people covet. My friends are thinking of gifting themselves: this Celine, this Gucci and this YSL.
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind bag, check out the current / vintage collection at Designer Archives .
Garden Hose
A designer garden hose? It sounds like an unusual gift. But Garden Glory make aesthetic garden hoses and watering cans. They’ll co-ordinate with the colour of your house.
This classic cabbage wear vase would look just as good as part of a “shelfie” as it would holding flowers.
This Hermes polish is a little bottle of luxury, I like the pale pink and the burgundy colours.
Diptyque Candles - Christmas Edition
I like my house to smell like Christmas. So I bought these candles for myself and liked them so much, I bought them for sister too.
Christmas Earrings by Jimena Alejandra
Be the cool Mum, without all the piercings. One earring, multiple hoops. Gold and topaz.
Mystical Gifts
A box of Oracle cards is a fun gift. This set from Helen Jacobs are my favourites. When you’re at a crossroads, some guidance is from the universe is magic.
Know someone who loves their dog more than anything else? Give them a voucher to have their dog’s paws set in plaster and framed. Marie Ramos (Sydney & Brisbane) did Mocha’s paws.
I bought a Vitamix this year and it’s been a match made in heaven. I’ve been eating better as I make soups, smoothies, protein balls and minced chicken. It’s worth the investment as it feels like a commercial grade appliance.
This organiser keeps perfume or make-up organised and it’s handy as it swivels. A useful gift for your sister or Mother-in-law.
Experiences are the best gifts as you have the anticipation of doing / receiving the event and then the memory after. These are my current favourites:
Book Terra Firma to cook up a BBQ beyond your wildest dreams (if you have acreage) or do their cooking class. There’s smoke, food and fire so your husband / boyfriend / partner is going to love it.
Give a book (like My Travels with Mrs Kennedy) or even better a monthly subscription from your local book store (see below).
Staycation at Miss Midgleys (New Farm)
Hire a boat - Aussie Princess for a large group or Go-Boat for a few friends
Weekend away at the brand new Langham Gold Coast
Treatments from the Kailo Spa at The Calille
Lunch with India Hicks at Halcyon House & receive a copy of her latest book. Take your girlfriend or Mum.
Subscriptions
For someone who “doesn’t want anything”, I’d choose a:
Book Subscription - independent book stores (like my local RiverBend Books) offer a monthly subscription so your recipient receives a new book (in their favourite genre) every month delivered to their door.
Magazine Subscription - receiving a monthly copy of Architectural Digest / Vogue / Wheels magazine is a real treat.
Monthly Flowers - is there anything more luxurious than fresh flowers at home? Arrange for your local florist to send a bunch each month to your best friend / sister / Mum.
White Linen Shirt
I like to wear a white linen shirt over my swimmers at the beach and this one from Just Jeans is the best value ($55) going around.
Board Shorts - Men
These board shorts are more sophisticated than most.
Resort Wear
The Resort collection from Zimmerman this year had some really gorgeous pieces which I’m adding to my Santa list. All pictured above.
And that’s a wrap! If you decided to buy something based on these Guides, please tag a friend on Insta or join Amber’s World where I share my latest discoveries every quarter. Merry Christmas x
