Does your Bathroom have the “WOW” factor?

With a family business selling tiles, I’ve seen hundreds of bathrooms over the years and have renovated ten of my own bathrooms across four different houses (photos 1-3 above). One thing I’ve found is that some bathrooms really stand out - from the Calile Hotel in Brisbane (photos 4 & 5), to this bathroom by Kate Walker Design (photo 6).

So how do I know when I’m in an amazing bathroom? Because I get a feeling when I walk in, “WOW, this is the most amazing bathroom”.

I’ve been reflecting on why some bathrooms give me that “WOW” feeling and others don't. It’s not the amount of money that’s been spent or whether the bathroom is brand new or the size or even the style. The thing about the really amazing bathrooms is that every element is chosen carefully and each item contributes to the whole.

In many home renovations, bathrooms are on the right track but just don’t quite come together in the end. I don’t get that “Wow” feeling in many bathrooms. So I started to reflect on why?

I’ve found that there are three common mistakes that come up time and again. The most common mistakes are:
