Shower Niche

With the right details, your shower can look straight out of a magazine.

With the right details, your shower can look straight out of a magazine.

When you’re in the shower, you need somewhere to put your shampoo, razor, cleanser and other product. The place to put it is the Shower Niche (sometimes called a Shower Recess). This small space can make a big impact.

Tips To Create the Perfect Niche

  • Height - Measure the height of your tallest product (likely the shampoo bottle), the niche needs to be at least this high. But don’t make it too high - or it will start to look oversize. I like the look of a rectangle so 350mm height should fit your shampoo. Remember it’s a place to store products or style it up with a plant.

  • Width - this will depend on how much space is available in the shower and how many products you need when showering! If you like a lot of product (hello teenager daughter), then go as wide as you need. In my daughters shower, her niche is 350 mm high x 550 mm wide. This size fits all her product.

  • Feature Tile - the shower niche is a great spot to add a feature tile such as a mosaic or some marble. Using a more expensive tile in the niche, adds a designer look to the whole bathroom without blowing your budget. Another option is to tile the entire shower wall in a feature tile. This creates mega impact - see my insta for examples.
