Amber’s Week - Work, Do, Eat, Read

Pax IKEA Wardrobe, Brisbane Home Renovation, Style blogger, Riverfire 2022

Off to RiverFire 2022, wearing a Victoria Beckham jumper.

I received a great response to Instagram stories on what I’m eating, doing, reading and working on, so I thought I’d start a regular blog post on “Amber’s Week”.

Working On

You may know that my Walk-in-Robe has got a major over-haul in the past month. After receiving quotes for custom-made joinery (eeek!), I decided to go with the Pax system from IKEA.

Today, I’m showing the before, the after and the render (photos below). I’m actually so happy with the result that I’ve found myself going into the Wardrobe for no reason - just to look at the shelving.

Since I posted about this last week, many of you have told me that your builder's and interior designers recommended IKEA for their closets / wardrobes. I’m not really surprised as the quality is really good.

Tip: I chose a mixture of open and hidden. The drawers are timber rather than glass fronted as I’m not “Marie Kondo” tidy and I don’t want to see my underwear every time I walk in the wardrobe.

Also, the shoe drawers below the actual drawers are a game changer. No more looking at a jumble of shoes.

Still not sure about using the Pax system? Email me any questions amber@studioverdigris.com

Do

The whole family watched RiverFire 2022 from Eagle Street. The fireworks exploded in front of us. My favourite part was the roar of the Super Hornet’s. (There’s a reel on my instagram).

Eating

After returning from Aro-Ha Wellness Retreat in New Zealand, I changed my eating patterns. I’m eating more vegies and making lots of soups. This week I made a Cauliflower & Leek Soup. It’s so easy you barely need a recipe. But here are the steps I took:

Recipe - Cauliflower & Leek Soup

Brown one diced leek in olive oil in a large saucepan.

Add 1 cauliflower (cut up into florets).

Add 2 litres of chicken stock.

Simmer for 20 minutes. Then puree.

Read

One of my favourite things to do is read and I’m always trying to find extra pockets of time to read. This week I read the diary of Helen Garner (Diaries 1987- 1995). It’s interesting to me because she wrote this diary when she was 46 - my age now. It’s written in a diary style so I read bits of it at a time.

Enjoy your week!

Amber

PS. My yoga practise is one of my favourite weekly rituals. I’m a beginner. I started in July at Aro Ha and continued as I like the way I feel afterwards.
